Eminem Says He's Recording With Dr. Dre
Dre and Shady are back in the studio, but for what project?
Eminem gave fans reason to be excited when he revealed that he was in the studio with Dr. Dre - despite the vagueness of the news.
Shady called into "The Morning After" with Angela Yee yesterday (October 28), commemorating his Shade45 radio station's sixth anniveresary.
"I'm in the studio with Dre now, let's jus say that," teased Em, saying that Dre was in the other room. "Pretty soon he's going to make a beat and I might rap on it."
Em added that he was planning on "taking a break" after the success of his latest release, Recovery, and his four-date tour with Jay-Z.
Eminem did not clarify whether he's working on a new solo project, or whether the Dre beat is for the long-delayed Detox.

Hip-Hop producer Swizz Beatz has been sued by a producer who claims he was cheated out of royalties for his work on Cassidy's hit single "My Drink 'N My 2 Step."

Frost claims he created "all of the other original musical components that shaped and defined" "My Drink 'N My 2 Step" in 2007, which spawned remixes by Kanye West, Chingy, Ne-Yo and others.
According to Frost, Swizz Beatz offered $5,000 and 5% of ownership of the song, according to TMZ.com.

Kanye West Sends Message to Bootleggers
When Kanye West released the track list for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, many were wondering why the Chicagoan was putting out an album full of songs that have already reached the ears of fans. However, West says he is confident in releasing this album because he feels he has a leg up on any bootleggers out there.
This news became evident when he was being interviewed by MTV's Sway Calloway, in a piece that ran yesterday, who asked what his favorite track was.
"I can't say right this instant because we're still mixing them," 'Ye replied. "And we got a few bonus tracks, like 'See Me Now,' 'Mama's Boy' and some bonus tracks after that. There's like 13 or 14 songs ... maybe 'Chain Heavy' will be on there. We have to make a decision by tomorrow. So there's maybe 13 or 14 tracks, but they're way produced. Far from any bootleg, far from any hacker. A hacker, man, can't give you what I can give you once it's the whole product."'
West is no stranger to working up until deadlines, famously doing the same while producing for others and working on past projects.

Legendary Run-DMC and Beastie Boys producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin loses weight and works with Kid Rock.
Legendary Run-DMC and Beastie Boys producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin loses weight and works with Kid Rock.
Rick Rubin has had quite an interesting career in music. After co-creating the legendary Def Jam label with Russell Simmons, he has been responsible, in some ways, for the great careers of The Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Run DMC, among others. After establishing his own American Records, he worked with Rock groups, producing for Rage Against the Machine, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Linkin Park, Slipknot and many more. Still, he continued to work with Hip Hop artists, signing The Clipse to Columbia Records and reemerging as a hit making producer for Jay-Z's "99 Problems."
As the years went on, fans could see a transformation in Rubin. When he started, he was a fresh face, a thin young man working to make Rap a viable genre. Later, he gained weight, grew a very long beard and seemingly became more calm. Fans can expect another transformation of sorts now.
During a recent interview with GQ, Rubin admitted to dropping 130 pounds through strict workouts and dieting. For the interview, Rubin appears shirtless and is interviewed alongside Kid Rock, the latest musician to be working with the producer.
"That fucker lost 130 pounds," Rock noted. "He was in the studio cutting apples and drinking his shakes."

An Arsenal Of Artists On Board For DJ Premier's Debut Compilation
Living, Hip-Hop legend DJ Premier has announced the details behind the first compilation for his record label, Year Round Records titled Year Round Records: Get Used To Us.
The first collection of tracks from the world renowned beat creator hits the streets this December and features the Year Round Records Roster: Nick Javas, Khaleel and NYG'Z.
In addition to Preme's roster of artists, Get Used To Us features guest appearances from a who's-who in Hip-Hop, including KRS-One, MC Eiht, Styles P., Royce da 5'9, Freddie Foxxx, Lady of Rage, Blaq Poet, Papoose, Tef, Dynasty, Young Maylay, Joell Ortiz, Saigon and Grand Puba.
Additionally, Brenks and legendary producer Showbiz contribute tracks to the 16-song album.
“I chose to release this LP while I put the finishing touches on all of the projects that were due for 2010," DJ Premier said. "I figured, why not pull a song from each project as well as the Remixes that were only available on 12” inch vinyl last year. Since I am independent and I do not have to worry about following the map that our industry goes by, my goal is to release more than six albums in 2011."
If all goes according to plan, DJ Premier's label will release six new albums in 2011: Pete Rock Vs. DJ Premier, KRS-One (Return of the Boom Bip), Freddie Foxxx (The Kolexion), Tef (Contraband), Nick Jovas (Destination Unknown) and NYG'z (Hustlaz Union: Local NYG).
The NYG'z' Hustlaz Union: Local NYG will be the first all-DJ Premier produced project since Gangstarr's 200X album The Ownerz.
"I am a street DJ! Street DJ’s set the trends of what is good way before everyone knows what is happening," DJ Premier said. "Street DJ’s are like weathermen, we know when it is sunny, rainy, snowy, hurricanes; you name it before it actually hits. To prove my independence, I am dropping 4 singles and videos all at once (Nick Javas “Opportunity Knoccs”), (NYG’z “Policy”), (Khaleel “Hot Flames”), (MC Eiht “Fine By Me”) for the Get Used To Us compilation.
"I pride myself on making sure that my established market of fans and supporters get fed what there always waiting for when I release music and I welcome new fans that want to hear hard, original beats with rhymes that you can’t deny when it comes to skills," DJ Premier continued. "Plus, I have a live weekly radio show Friday nights from 10pm—Midnight (EST) on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio-(Hip Hop Nation)-(Sirius 40/XM 67) called (”Live From Headqcourterz”) which is dedicated to breaking new underground Hip Hop from a true DJ’s perspective. I only play what I think the audience needs to hear. Hip Hop’s age range has gone from age 4 to 60 believe it or not. You cannot outgrow a culture so I fill the void that terrestrial radio cannot fill.”

DJ Premier Confirms "Pete Rock vs. DJ Premier" Album In The Works
Two of Hip Hop's sonic saviors will work together on an upcoming and historic project, according to Premo.
Two of Hip Hop's most respected producers of all time are the New York-based DJ Premier and Pete Rock. Both late 1980s additions to the music industry, the two men have joined forces in crafting amazing albums such as Nas' 1994 debut Illmatic, Heavy D & The Boyz' 1992 Blue Funk and more recently, Freddie Foxxx's independent smash release, 2000's The Industry Shakedown. Although each esteemed producer has worked independently, both names are often used in the same sentences.
In a recent video interview (posted above), DJ Premier confirmed that the two men are confirmed to share an album, Pete Rock vs. DJ Premier. The name is taken from a series of concerts both men, whose careers began as deejays, performed together, in a staged amicable battle sequence. This included a date this spring in Japan, for which a trailer was shot:
Manhattan Records presents DJ Premier VS Pete Rock -A Legendary DJ Battle trailer from getfunky on Vimeo.
In addition, DJ Premier confirmed earlier this week that he is planning a December release from his Year Round Records imprint, as well as upcoming projects from KRS-One, MC Eiht and Nick Javas. Pete Rock is presently producing the next album from veteran Boot Camp Clik duo Smif-N-Wessun.
U2 Working With Danger Mouse and will.i.am
Bono says U2 has a whole album with Danger Mouse, as well as upcoming material with will.i.am and David Guetta.
Danger Mouse can add U2 to a list of recent collaborators that already includes Cee-Lo and Sparklehorse. U2 frontman Bono revealed that the band has three albums in the works, and apparently the one featuring Danger Mouse will be a priority due to the chemistry between the unlikely collaborators.
“We have about 12 songs with him,” Bono told Theage.com in a recent interview. “At the moment that looks like the album we will put out next, because it's just happening so easily.”
Danger Mouse isn’t strictly a Hip Hop producer, but he has worked with Cee-Lo on two Gnarls Barkley projects as well as his unofficial Jay-Z/Beatles mash-up, The Grey Album. U2 has recently worked with Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz and Rihanna on the song “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour).”
The two other U2 albums will likely be more dance-oriented, featuring Lady Gaga producer Red One, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and David Guetta. Both will.i.am and Guetta have been at the forefront of the recent Electro/Pop fusion with R&B via their work with Kelis, Akon, Kelly Rowland and others.
“U2’s remixes in the 1990s were a real treasure,” Bono added. “So we wanted to make a club sounding record. We have a pile of songs.”

RZA Snags Wrestler Batista For 'The Man with the Iron Fist'
(AllHipHop News) Wu-Tang Clan producer The RZA has snagged WWE star Batista for his upcoming new movie The Man with the Iron Fist.
The movie, which is being directed by RZA and also stars Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe, centers around a blacksmith, who forges weapons for the inhabitants of a village in feudal China when they are forced to defend themselves.
In an interview with movie site ComingSoon.net, RZA revealed that the wrestler born Dave Batista, will star in The Man with the Iron fist a character named Glass Body.
“I would love to bring these worlds together. That’s what I’m striving to do. My budget is not as big as some of these movies, so I’ve got to pull a lot of favors," RZA said. "Another buddy who is on board is Dave Batista, the world wrestling champion who left and now he’s into Strikeforce and he’s going to be doing mixed martial arts. To have him come on as 'Glass Body,' when I talked to him about it, he was like, 'I always wanted to be The Toad in Five Deadly Venoms, and I said, 'this isn’t The Toad but the character is very similar,' and he said it would be his honor to do it. So to have him and Russell Crowe standing beside each other, two men, real men, is exciting. But I’m looking to make this an international thing that brings both worlds under one umbrella and get out a good piece of art.”
While The RZA's "budget might not be as big" as other movies, sources stated that The Man with the Iron Fist is being shot on a budget of about $20 million.
In addition to The RZA writing the movie with producer Eli Roth, the flick is also being produced by Quentin Tarantino, Eric Newman and Marc Abraham.

Additionally, RZA and Russell Crowe will star together in The Next Three Days, which is being directed by Paul Haggis.
The Man with the Iron Fist is in pre-production. According to reports, the movie is due in movie theaters in 2011.

Drake's first album was a definite success, but now the Canadian rapper is talking about who's producing his second album.

Just Blaze, who recently spoke about delays for T.I.'s and Jay Electronica's upcoming projects, sat down with VIBE to discuss things outside the realm of Hip Hop.
In the interview, the producer revealed that he is continuing production for video games, and now television. “There’s something else video game and music related that I might be working on. It’s so early, though—we’ve only been two conversations about it. But it will probably have a lot of haters upset, again,” explained Just. “I’m also working on a TV show. It’s not just a pitch thing—we’re almost done shooting. I took the downtime I had from making music to do something different, jump on the small screen a little bit.“
It turns out that Just Blaze sought the advice of another one of Hip Hop's storied producers who's taken his talents to other forms of media - RZA.
“I sat next to RZA on a plane, and we chopped it up about expanding our talents. He told me that he knew he had to diversify a long time ago,” described Just of the meeting. “I definitely admire him for his early move into Hollywood.”

Lil Wayne To Be Served Summons In Jail For Copyright Infringement After Failing To Pay Producer Of "Mrs Officer". 3rd Producer On 'Tha Carter III' To Not Get Paid
You would think that Lil Wayne being in jail would give him a break from drama in the outside world, but that's not the case.
Boombox is reporting that Weezy is about to be served a summons to appear in federal court for failure to pay Atlanta producer Mali Boy.
Mali claims he has not received payment for the song "Mrs Officer" that appeared on the multi platinum selling 'Tha Carter III' album.
This lawsuit comes on the heels of Bangladesh's claim that he hasn't been paid for "A Milli". And even more recently "Lollipop" producer Jim Jonsin told AllHipHop he hasn't seen a dime for his work either.
"We’re still trying to get paid. Clearly, I don’t understand what the issue is. They sold the record, they’ve collected the checks, they’ve even gotten huge advances, they’re buying Bugattis, and spending all kinds of money. But the producers and people that created the songs are not getting paid. And so we’re going through some things now in hopes that it gets fixed. That thing was like the most downloaded song in history, so pay the people who made it. It’s not your record, it’s our record," Jonsin said.
Clearly Cash Money is making a lot of money, so none of this makes sense. I've never heard of a label not paying this many different producers for their work.
Bangladesh has said recently he is going to put in some work on 'Pink Friday', Nicki Minaj's debut album, but make no mistake he's still trying collect what is owed to him.
"Everything is being worked out through the legal process," he told BoomBox. "It's really out of his control honestly. I mean he don't run the label, he don't own the label -- he's just on the label."
